i love living in milwaukee

September 11th, 2009

i’m sure i’ve said it before.. but i’ll say it again. i do love this town. maybe it’s because we live almost half of our year bundled up in layers of clothing with hats, scarves, mittens and snow boots… staying inside where it’s warm… short days of sunlight.. (etc.) but summer in this town is always filled with fun stuff. this weekend is (as far as i know) the final ethnic summer festival at the summerfest grounds: indian summer. it will be fun.. it always is a fun time. and i love the fact that milwaukee does these festivals almost every weekend.

so far this summer we have attended (at those same festival grounds):

if you notice, me and jackie have attended every single ethnic festival on the lakefront festival grounds. also notice that in that list, the biggest summer festival here in milwaukee, summerfest, was *not* listed… nor was it attended. and this was by design. ) i remember the days when i really loved going to summerfest… and now i just get annoyed by the loud music and rowdy drunk crowds. maybe i’m getting old… but i’d rather not have to pay $15 to have overpriced beer spilled on me. (“get off my lawn!” ????? ????? ????? ????? )

well look at that.. it’s 2:30am. when’d that sneak up on me? *shakes her cane at the air*
time for bed ???????

man, and I went to summerfest this year. 2nd time in my life (it was on the ‘bring 3 cans and get in free day’). and I find it interesting that you call Milwaukee a ‘town’ because to me it’s this massive city that completely scares and confuses me. that’s why I just stay in my corner. pet Moe for us!

@Amy, hah! yeah.. the only time i usually go to summerfest in the past has been those “bring food and get in free” days.. hah! i’m cheap :P

and yeah.. i do think of milwaukee as a town. it really has that “big small town” feeling.. especially to me since i’ve lived here my entire life. even though the greater milwaukee area has about a million and a half people… i still run into people i know all over the place.. just like a small town. )

    and moe says hi )

It’s your tales of fun in Milwaukee that make me and Rob wistful for packing up the dogs and moving to the midwest. Oh, yeah, and we also know you spend half on your MORTGAGE what we do for our RENT in Brooklyn.
