2009 seems to have been the year for me to invade countries and cities that i had never stepped foot in before. first london (in may) and now paris in december. the main purpose for my trip was to attend the two day conference, LeWeb ’09… but the cheapest flight prices “forced” me to spend a whole week in paris. (i know.. i know.. rough. wasn’t it? ) so here is two hours of video from my week long trip to paris, whittled down to 10 minutes 14 seconds. enjoy

so it’s been a while since i’ve made a video. and not because i haven’t been up to some awesome stuff.. but because i’ve been up to *too* much awesome stuff. so this update is basically just a random update… random video and random events from my week. my week included lots of work on web design stuff (but that doesn’t make for very interesting video… so it’s not really represented here), saving a friend’s windows PC from a computer virus, the montly web414 meeting, and some video from indian summer festival down at milwaukee’s lakefront. live’s too short to be bored.. right?

if you follow me and my life adventures, you’re probably familar with the terms “barcamp” and “podcamp”… but queercamp was a new idea, born of networking and idea sharing at a podcamp. after realizing how much of a “good idea” it was, plans went into gear to hold the first ever queercamp at bucketworks in milwaukee wisconsin. it was an amazing time. the most awesome people showed up for some great discussion and sessions on topics spanning the board. and yes.. there’s already talks of other queercamps. stay tuned.

you know you live in wisconsin, when a birthday party at the end of march invoves a snow storm AND ice cream, and it all seems perfectly normal to everyone. lots of fun was had and lots of ice cream drinks were consumed for jackie’s 28th birthday party. oh, and there were balloon animals too.

March of 2009 marked another milestone in my life: my first SXSW interactive. it also ended up being a month where i was sick for most of it. but that SXSWi pass was expensive, so i wasn’t going to let a nasty cold, cough, fever, sore throat, bloodshot eyes and loss of voice stop me from enjoying everything that i could while i was down in austin for the conference. As you may notice throughout the video, that there were lots of flip cams and cameras. Feel free to use this episode as a drinking game, and take a drink every time you see another flip cam recording me recording them with a flip cam. the video is eight and a half minutes long… so good luck with that

music is a beautiful thing. one of my favorite parts about music is that it is so deeply rooted in cultures throughout the world, and spans throughout time. the Global Missions department of the ELCA church invited 50 musicians to spend a weekend to enjoy, learn, share and celebrate global music in the Church…. and of course we also had a lot of fun.

in january, i had some people over at my house… but not just any people… people from all over the world were invited, some i had never even met before (in person, that is), others i had met once, or twice… but all of these people have become my closest friends via the internet. yes. the internet. and nearly 30 of them drove, flew, bussed, or train-ed it up here to milwaukee, in january, for a weekend long gathering. it was nothing short of amazing, and just about every moment was documented via some sort of new media. i hope to have another “angry camp tracy’s basement” again soon. ps. sorry it took me forever to get to editing this video together.. and it’s twice as long as all my other videos i’ve made so far… but i’ll just say that it’s a “special episode”

goodbye 2008, hello 2009. what a better way to spend the transition of the years with a collection of family and friends… AND with a date. the first party was also a surprise birthday party for my birth aunt so we also got cake.
