em#10: SXSW

May 3rd, 2009

March of 2009 marked another milestone in my life: my first SXSW interactive. it also ended up being a month where i was sick for most of it. but that SXSWi pass was expensive, so i wasn’t going to let a nasty cold, cough, fever, sore throat, bloodshot eyes and loss of voice stop me from enjoying everything that i could while i was down in austin for the conference. As you may notice throughout the video, that there were lots of flip cams and cameras. Feel free to use this episode as a drinking game, and take a drink every time you see another flip cam recording me recording them with a flip cam. -) the video is eight and a half minutes long… so good luck with that -P

in january, i had some people over at my house… but not just any people… people from all over the world were invited, some i had never even met before (in person, that is), others i had met once, or twice… but all of these people have become my closest friends via the internet. yes. the internet. and nearly 30 of them drove, flew, bussed, or train-ed it up here to milwaukee, in january, for a weekend long gathering. it was nothing short of amazing, and just about every moment was documented via some sort of new media. i hope to have another “angry camp tracy’s basement” again soon. ps. sorry it took me forever to get to editing this video together.. and it’s twice as long as all my other videos i’ve made so far… but i’ll just say that it’s a “special episode” -)

It’s a Free World… movie full

i already love at&t

April 7th, 2008

yep. it’s true.

and i’ve already been on the phone with the tech support people… and guess what? they helped The Falcon and the Snowman the movie me. (i know this is a pretty strange concept.. especially in a world where companies like time warner cable get away with not providing any sort of customer service to the people who keep them in business…) the lady i spoke to was helpful.. and even walked through more help than i had asked for… just to make sure that i was completely satisfied. so i am now officially a happy at&t dsl customer, along with a current happy at&t wireless/iphone user. -)

goodbye time warner cable, i will not miss you… at all

April 6th, 2008

.!.

well.. the time has come. i finally have another option for high speed internet here at my apartment.. so i’m running… full speed away from road runner “high speed” cable internet (a part of time warner cable

Revelation

).

i have used road runner/TWC for many years… and every year i would rather shove sharp objects in my eyes. the customer service for time warner cable has been worse than bad, the service has been slow and choppy, and i have been randomly disconnected, hung up on, and been treated like crap for no reason whatsoever. there was even a week of time where my internet was getting speeds of LESS THAN what i got when i had DIAL UP internet. not only that, but they have been over charging me for months, and they now owe me over $150, since they said they were going to “correct the mistake.” (mind you.. that was over six months ago…) i can’t believe that time warner cable is still in business when this is the kind of “service” they provide.

so i am happy to move over to at&t for their highest speed residential DSL option (which is still cheaper than what time warner cable was charging me for their crappy service). i’ve also talked to their tech support and they have always treated me with respect and taken care of any questions/problems i’ve had. last time i checked, this is how a real business takes care of their customers. (i guess time warner missed that memo…)

i’m officially logging off my computers here at home, and disconnecting my internet, and will await for my DSL to be turned on tomorrow. -)

addicted to RSS feeds

October 30th, 2007

i’ll admit it. i’m addicted. i sign up for every type of social networking site i can find. i’ve got a myspace, (actually i have two) a facebook, a flickr, a youtube, a glee, a linkedIn, a twitter, a pownce, a jaiku, a digg, a del.icio.us, a tumblr, a last.fm, a frappr, a vox, a blog, another blog, another blog, another blog (etc…) and i enjoy finding ways to link them together via RSS feeds. i guess that makes me an RSS feed junkie.

why cant more things in my life be an RSS feed?
