bear with me…

September 20th, 2009

so i’m trying to set up a way to aggregate my social media content here on everymoment.org.. and boy this is much harder than it looks. i need to go through and clean out all my different cross posting settings.. in order to avoid that annoying double posting thing. so bear with me. while i’m testing out all these plugins and feed readers and cross posters and whatevers… my social media profiles might be more of a mess than usual. ????? ??????? ????? ??? ??????????? ???? ????? ???????

tagging 1,342 blog posts takes a long time…

September 7th, 2009

so this might take longer than expected to get everything up and running as smoothly as i would like. but at least it’s working to a point that i can start blogging & video blogging again. )

it’s also nice to have a much better interface for adding video and pictures. the last design (the one, really thin column with the brown background) was actually my “rebelling” against all the blog designs that started coming out with two and three columns of “stuff” cluttering up the page at the time i created it. (and actually.. still today. and i’m not saying that you shouldn’t have multiple columns in your blog design.. it’s just… well.. it can be done correctly.. and planned out… or it can end up looking like content and social media puked all over your website … i’m just sayin’) so now, years later, as big, impacting video and images rule the web… the old narrow design just wasn’t cutting it anymore. plus, there were plenty of things that were broken about that design. it was the first time that i had used a wordpress release that used templates. so i definitely just learned as i went and i see now how much i didn’t understand when i created (read: threw together with duct tape and chewing gum) the old template design. )

so i will be continuing to clean up things in the back end (which will take a long time. especially since i’m working with over eight years of blog entries here) and will be using this site to not only post my video blogs/podcasts (which you can subscribe to either via RSS or in iTunes… links are on the left side), but also other random things about design, random things found on the internetz and life in general.

it’s good to be back. ) ????? ?????

well.. at least it's working.. right?

if you haven’t noticed… i (FINALLY) finished up the everymoment.org redesign… i also updated my wordpress (which was looooong overdue) and for some reason several of my entries got their post dates all jumbled around.

but hey.. at least it’s working.. right? ??a?a?? ?????a??? ????? ??????

hop on the greenb.us!

May 16th, 2008

hey, i’m starting planning on my new domain name, greenb.us. so i’m wondering who’s interested in helping out with the site? i’m thinking of a group blog and community site, to share information, links, ideas and best practices for “green living”

so who want’s to hop on the “greenb.us’? -)

remind me to never start a massive project like switching over a website to a new host.. in the middle of the night…

March 30th, 2008

wow. i’m exhausted. it’s 7am and i haven’t been to sleep yet. i made the horrible mistake of thinking “hey.. i’ll have everything for tracyapps.org moved over to my new host.. and that one should be an easy one to move over to the new host… so why don’t i change the domain name to point to the new server at 11pm…”

so do you see how dumb that was? well if you are a web developer, you will see it immediately. first off.. there is no such thing as “an easy site to move over to a new host”… secondly.. when changing a domain name to point to the new server, the settings of that domain name are going to wait to the most inopportune time for the change to actually go through. in this case.. it was after i was already tired and sick of working on websites… at 5am.

i just spent the last two hours “tweaking” my webpage to work on the new server.. and import all my old files, designs, settings, etc… but now tracyapps.org

Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp’s Adventure move

should be officially up and running on my new server. three sites successfully moved… two more to go… *sigh*

anyways. now i am going to go to sleep. my next “bad idea to start this now” project will be to redesign everymoment.org… but i’ll wait until i have a whole lot of other things that i need to do to start that one. -) g’night!

i’ve had enough of all my random hosting experiences. i finally just went with the “big dawgs” over at (mt) A Simple Plan move

and will be moving *all* of my websites over there. so if you see weirdness on any of my sites… that’s why.

and i’m moving this one first.. since it’s the first to expire. -) wish me (and all my websites) luck! -)
